Let's Go To The Races

Who can go to a Race Night?

A Race Nite is run as a private club members draw and therefore is a private social occasion to which members and their guests are invited. It should not be open to the General Public. The best way to ensure this is to give out a small invitation ticket to the people you want to attend at your place at work, your club, parish, society etc. Newspaper advertising is not recommended.

We recommend that the parade/preview is not run and while this does reduce interest slightly we find as the night goes on it has very little overall effect.

ONE VERY IMPORTANT POINT: THE AUCTION FILM SHOULD NEVER BE PREVIEWED

If you show the parade/form, buyers will wait to buy the favourite and you will get poor prices for the other horses. Your committee allocated horses to all other owners so if their horse won it was by chance. The same should apply to the auction race. So don't show the parade.

 SOME FURTHER POINTS

The game is a game of chance, no skill whatsoever involved as you are only buying a ticket on a number. The film box is opened and ran on a projector when all tickets are sold and tote closed. Not showing the preview will stop cheats who might know the winner. If the film is shown up to the start then the game becomes a game of skill by using the commentators comments, punters would use their betting skills to select a winner.

It is therefore in your own interest to do it right - as a private members club draw - members and invited guests, running the films as a game of chance.

We also provide several novelties such as Rosettes for the winners and Jockey Caps for your ticket seller.

Most venues have a PA system - this is another essential piece of equipment on the night - if you need one let us know.

See our Booking Form for full list of prices and all the items you may need.

 DOUBLE YOUR INCOME

SELL, SELL, SELL more horses and DOUBLE UP the races i.e. Have Race 1, Race 1A, Race 1B, Race 1C etc. on each film. The betting payout is the same, as the money to be paid out is divided by the tickets sold for that horse. But you have sold extra horses which are far more valuable to your fund. Just remember each owner in each leg 1, la, Ib, Ic etc. should get an owners prize. You can also get additional sponsors for each extra Race Card 1A, 1B etc.
