Our History

GFD Communication had its foundation in General Film Distributors Ltd., which was founded in 1958. In 1986 GFD Communication Ltd was founded to reflect the change in emphasis and kind of work being undertaken at that time which had moved on from exclusively distributing Film to Audio Visual, Sound System and related products. In the 1970's we first got involved in 35mm Cinema equipment and service taking over for RCA and Westrex, who were the main suppliers at that time. Since then a dramatic change has come over the Cinema and Audio Visual Industry with the introduction of Dolby Stereo and Dolby Digital sound, Automated Projection Facilities and now Digital Projection.

GFD Film Library continues to supply Movie Films on Video and DVD to Non-Theatrical audiences throughout the country, and our very popular "Race Nites" for Fundraising in Clubs and other Association.

In 1994 GFD took over Conference Services an AV Hire company providing the Hire of Audio Visual and Sound Equipment to Businesses for Conferences either in house, hotels or in other venues. This hire service starts from a basic PA Hire or Projector to full Multi Screen Digital Projections with Large Sound Systems, Back Drops to Large Rigs, Platforms, Lighting Display systems etc. covering major conferences countrywide.
