GFD film library is where our company started
back in 1958 distributing 16mm products from RKO,
United Artists, Paramount Universal and other major
film makers to the school and college market. This
also took place in hotels private homes clubs parish
halls up and down the country. In 1983 the coming of
video was the death knell to this market yet it
still continues to survive with Film Societies and
University showings and some club party showings.
With the market moving to video it was a natural
progression for us to go this route as well and
today we handle the group viewing market in Ireland
for all the major film distributors such as UIP,
Columbia Tristar, Disney Buena-Vista, Touchstone,
Fox Warner, Rank, First Independent, Guild, etc.
In the main our products are available shortly
after or sometimes concurrently with cinema releases
depending on the distribution arrangements which
gives us a window before "HOME USE" release to the
general public.
With the emergence of better and brighter Video
Projectors we can now offer Schools and Clubs a
Video projection service complete with the necessary
sound equipment together with operators if required
to set up and run their showings with the latest
cinema releases.
Along with feature movie films we also offer a
RACE NITE service for FUND RAISING.
RACE NITE films are a very popular way for
charities to raise much need cash for their
activities. They are run as a private members club
draw and can be an evening of great fun and
entertainment. The success of this method of fund
raising is due to the way the programme is made up
by getting as many people as possible to contribute
a small amount such as ten pounds to buy a horse
which get their name in the programme and spreading
the sponsorship and advertising over many people
rather than asking a few to dig deep for the charity
or club. We provide a full video projection and hire
service for all the necessary equipment that may be
needed on these nights be it on 16mm or video along
with sound reinforcement systems.
If you have not run a race night for your club or
charity then we suggest you give it a try we have a
full explanatory leaflet on how to set it up and run
the night. Please ask for RACE NITE Brochures.
